A Self-Build Mansion.
A Self-Build Mansion.
OVERVIEW
The Oadby project in Leicester is a striking example of modern architectural and engineering excellence, completed in just 35 days under standard contract terms. This ambitious build included a spacious 8.5m-height bayed atrium, a dual-curved staircase, and an indoor swimming pool, all enclosed by 600m² of ICF walls. The project combined innovative construction techniques and meticulous craftsmanship to deliver a high-performance and visually stunning structure.
DESIGN
The architectural vision was driven by Design Studio Architects, whose contemporary design seamlessly blended functionality with elegance. Structural expertise was provided by Arcelle Consulting Engineers, ensuring the building could safely accommodate its unique features, such as the towering atrium and curved staircase.
WHAT WE DID
ICF Bondmor was responsible for delivering the superstructure of this extraordinary mansion, constructing 600m² of ICF walls within just 35 days. A key challenge was the 8.5m-high bayed atrium, which demanded precise engineering and expert execution to achieve both strength and aesthetic impact.
Additionally, we played a crucial role in forming the base for the dual-curved staircase, ensuring seamless integration with the wider structure. With materials supplied by industry leaders such as Cemex and Fenders Steel and concrete pumping facilitated by McFarlane Concrete Pumping, we maintained efficiency and accuracy throughout the build.
Once our works were complete, we handed over to the remaining trades to finalise the project, leaving behind a robust, energy-efficient superstructure ready for its finishing touches.
