ICF Bondmor had the honour of being represented at the International Sustainable Ecological Engineering Design conference, where our Commercial Director, Elliot McKendrick, presented a groundbreaking research paper titled “On the Origin of Methodology: A Sustainable Construction Assessment Framework for UK Housing.” The paper introduced the MAC (Method Assessment in Construction) framework, a tool developed to help construction professionals select the most appropriate and sustainable methods for their projects. By empowering industry professionals to make informed choices, this framework aims to promote the broader adoption of Modern Methods of Construction (MMCs) across the UK housing sector.
The opportunity to engage with such a passionate and knowledgeable audience at the conference was a true privilege. It was inspiring to see the shared commitment among attendees to finding innovative solutions to the many challenges facing sustainable construction today. The lively discussions and insightful feedback further reinforced the need for collaboration in addressing critical issues such as the UK housing crisis and the growing demand for affordable, sustainable housing.
While no single framework can fully resolve the complexities of these challenges, we hope the MAC framework will serve as a valuable tool in guiding industry professionals toward sustainable, efficient construction practices. The framework provides a structured approach to assessing construction methodologies, helping to align project decisions with long-term sustainability goals, ultimately contributing to a better-built environment for all.
To add to what was already an incredibly rewarding experience, we were thrilled to receive the “Best Paper” award at the conclusion of the conference. This recognition is particularly meaningful, as it reflects not just the quality of the research, but the positive reception from peers who are equally dedicated to advancing sustainability in construction. We are humbled by the feedback and look forward to seeing how the ideas presented in this research will contribute to ongoing efforts in the industry.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the conference organisers and attendees for their support, engagement, and commitment to pushing the boundaries of whatโs possible in sustainable construction. As always, we remain dedicated to contributing to these conversations and working together to make a lasting positive impact on the future of our industry.
